Phil Mickelson bio
Philip Alfred Mickelson, nicknamed Lefty, was born on June 16, 1970, and is an American professional golfer who now plays with LIV Golf.
He has 45 victories to his credit on the PGA Tour, including six major championships, three Masters titles (2004, 2006, and 2010), two PGA Championships (2005, and in 2021), and one Open Championship (2013).
The record for the oldest major tournament winner ever belonged to Mickelson, who won the 2021 PGA Championship at the age of 50 years, 11 months, and 7 days.
Just 17 golfers in history have won at least three of the four major events, and Mickelson is one of them.
He has won every major competition except the U.S. Open, where he has a record-tying six runner-up results.
Mickelson, the only golfer to have won three (or more) of the four majors, quit his 30-year PGA Tour membership in 2022 to join the Saudi-sponsored LIV Golf tour.
For more than 25 years straight, Mickelson has consistently been ranked among the top 50 players in the world.
He repeatedly reached No. 2 in the global rankings and spent more than 700 weeks in the top 10. He is also a PGA Tour life member.
Although being naturally right-handed, he learned his left-handed swing by copying his right-handed father’s movements. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2012.
